Kathy's Journey: A Tale of Dedication and Excellence

Blog post header image.

Kathy, a proud native Texan, has a story that inspires and amazes. It all began on Christmas Day in 1985 when she met Diego, the man who would become her lifelong partner. Two years later, they were married, embarking on a journey filled with love, adventure, and shared dreams. Their son, Jackson, now 22, graduated from Creighton University in December 2024 and is living his dream of playing professional soccer with the Vancouver Whitecaps 2. Kathy and Diego, ever the supportive parents, travel the country in their RV, cheering Jackson on and visiting family along the way.

Kathy's professional journey is equally remarkable. She entered the warehouse management industry in 1994, bringing with her a passion for efficiency and innovation. In June 2013, she joined Daifuku Intralogistics America, becoming an integral part of the Selections group. Over the past 11+ years, Kathy has been a driving force behind numerous customer projects, focusing on the design, testing, implementation, and training of pick-to-light, voice picking, and warehouse execution software (WES/Dainamics). Her unwavering commitment to delivering quality products has earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

In her current role as a Software Quality Assurance specialist, Kathy's responsibilities are both extensive and critical. She meticulously identifies and documents potential interpretation differences, collaborates with development teams on product features, and reviews product documentation for accuracy and readability. Kathy creates detailed test plans and test cases based on new features or customer requirements, ensuring that all requirements function correctly. She utilizes automated testing tools to enhance efficiency and consistency, performs exception case testing to handle various scenarios, and conducts regression testing to ensure software updates do not negatively impact existing features.

Kathy's dedication extends beyond her technical expertise. She participates in integration testing with the software development team, reports test results to the project team and upper management, and becomes a subject matter expert (SME) to train users, transfer knowledge, and assist with issue resolution. Her support for the implementation team and customer user acceptance testing is invaluable, as is her assistance to the Systems Operations (SysOps) team during customer go-lives. Kathy also trains the Client Care team on customer systems and demonstrates how the system works to various stakeholders.

Kathy's passion for her work at Daifuku is evident in her own words. She enjoys learning about the software’s features and how all the products work together. She loves taking on challenges, whether it's testing a new feature or learning a new automated tool. Working with a diverse group of people with different skillsets and personalities is a source of joy for her, as there is always something to learn from their experiences. Kathy finds great satisfaction in giving demos of the system to Daifuku team members, potential customers, or training new customers. Visiting customer sites and seeing the end product work as expected brings her immense pride and fulfillment.

Kathy's dedication, expertise, and passion make her an invaluable asset to Daifuku Intralogistics America and an inspiration to all who have the pleasure of working with her. Her journey is a testament to the power of commitment, hard work, and a love for what you do.
